March 25, 2009--The Transgender Rights Movement

Mark your calendars:  this Tuesday, March 24, two FTM (Female to Male) artists are coming to Geneseo to do a spoken-word/hip-hop performance!  (Here's the link to the Facebook event).  So, we thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about the Transgender Rights Movement.  Many people are confused as to what it means to be "transgendered," so we will try to dispel any misconceptions about trans folk, as well as provide you with important information to join the movement.  Currently, trans people make up on of the most oppressed groups in America:  their humanity, lifestyles, and bodies have been delegitimized by current legislation, as well as social norms that encourage us to view the world through gender binaries.  DJ La Roja is very passionate about this topic, so it's sure to be a good show!

April 8, 2009--Female Sexuality and the Medical Field

April 22, 2009--Sexual Assault

The week of April 19-25 is Sexual Assault Awareness week on campus, which is a series of events organized and led by several student activists, including Fiona Murray and Gabriella Cascone.  Keep your eyes and ears open for more information about this important event and what you can do to help.  Our show will focus on different types of sexual assault and how our language reflects the politicization of bodies and identities.  We will also talk about important resources for people who are affected by sexual assault.
